Four Facts to Know About the Mover You Are Hiring

When you want a hassle-free move, you are usually thinking of hiring reputed movers which offer the best services for your move. There are so many companies offering moving services that deciding on one company to trust with your move can be daunting, especially when every other company seems to be making claims of offering a great service.

There are four essential facts to know about the mover you are hiring, so continue reading and make your decision accordingly!

Know Your Mover

1. Know the type of mover

Not all movers offer the same type of moving services. Know the type of move you will be making. This will determine the type of mover you will require! Essentially, there are various types which could range from long distance move to interstate move. You could also be making a local move where the man power and the distance of the cost could differ from a long distance move. Your move could also be looking for a full service move where everything from packing, loading and delivery will be done by the moving company. The cost of this type of move could be fairly high compared to self-service move where movers would also be responsible for loading and delivery. You may also be requiring a small move where you could be moving from one apartment to another. In such a case, just a single mover with a truck would be the best option.

2. Know the ranking

The rankings of a moving company would definitely be a valuable information to know before deciding on a moving company. At the click of a mouse, you can quickly have a glance at online reviews and complaints from customers. Compare rankings and reviews of moving companies before you decide on picking a company for your move.

3. Know the cost

When you know the estimated cost to hire a mover, you will be able to make better decisions for your move. Once you know different types of moving cost, you will be able to determine your budget. The moving fee you are paying will also mean that you are paying for professionalism and best service. For some moves, you could be charged an hourly rate for the mover’s services. If you get a price estimate way higher than what you can afford, then you know what kind of movers you need to stay away from.

4. Know the scammers

Many disreputable companies are lurking to scam people by offering misleading services. From holding your belongings as hostages to fraudulent credit card activities. Fraudulent moving companies show some red flags that shouldn’t be overlooked: read the printed contracts with great attention to understand accurate estimates of costs and guarantees of delivery. In addition, a quick review of the company at a reputed online directory could be a great way to spot scammers.

I hope these four tips will help you make the best choice for a mover. If you live in the Melbourne area, consider using All the Right Moves Removalists, the bets family-run moving company in the area.

4 Measures to Avoid Moving Disputes

The biggest challenge of hiring professional movers for your move is also taking the risk of engaging in a conflict on various issues that entail the move. Disputes are unavoidable under circumstances where items have been damaged and contracts have been breached; however, many of such disputes can be avoided if effective measures are take ahead of time.

Here are 4 measures you can take to avoid any disputes with your moving company:

Measure #1
Inquire in advance about the insurance and valuation on lost and damaged items.

Although your mover is responsible for the items that are transported, there are different types of liabilities that each moving company may take. Various types of protections may require certain charges. Look fully into the types of options you have. It could range from full value protection to released value protection. Under full value protection, the mover may be responsible for any loss or damage during the move. Each moving company has its own full value protection plan. Since released value protection offers minimal protection, you may have to buy additional insurance.

Measure #2
Inform the mover about nature of items.

Inform the movers ahead of time about the type of items that are being moved. Some items could be fragile, perishable, and valuable. Notify the mover in writing about the nature of such items. In case of time lags during a move, the mover can be aware of the type of storage and priority actions to take to protect your items.

Measure #3
Discuss and understand pricing

Be aware of the contractual agreement you would be making with the moving company. Get the precise cost of moving along with additional costs of other accompanying moving services which could add up to the total cost. Verify payment methods and options in order to avoid unnecessary problems on the day of delivery or the day of move.

Measure #4
Get hold of the paperwork.

There are essentially two types of paperwork you should possess after you organize the move. The first one is the order of service, which is a document that gives you a written confirmation of the moving service and the shipment details. It also has the confirmed date of the move and date of delivery along with the valuation of goods insured. Most importantly, it will have a mutually agreed declaration between you and the mover with your respective signatures. The second document is the bill of landing, which is a receipt of terms and conditions of the move along with cost of pending payments which will be handed over to you on the delivery of your shipment.

Through proper preparation ahead of time, many disputes with movers can be avoided by considering the above points. Being aware of some these things can be helpful in resolving unforeseen disputes ahead of time.

3 Eco Friendly Packaging Materials Ideas

Packaging materials while organizing a move always involves consuming materials such as cardboard boxes, plastic bags, rolls of duct tape, bubbles wraps, and the list can go on. For those conscious about the environment, the thought of waste generated from these packaging materials can be reprehensible.

moving

However, packing and moving can be accomplished in an environment friendly manner by taking three simple measures.

Idea #1. Be creative with old clothes

Bubbles wraps and styrofoam are the most obvious packaging materials that are sought after during a move. However, these materials are highly toxic and pose a threat to our environment and health. In addition, these materials are also expensive.

To cut cost and save the environment don’t hesitate to opt for old clothes while packing fragile items in boxes. Old clothes such as scarves, woolen materials and even cotton clothes provide protection and cushion in the boxes. Old clothes can also be rolled up and placed between gaps in boxes to protect items from being shuffled during the move.

Idea #2. Recycle old boxes and duffle bags

The most logical step often during a move is to buy cardboard boxes for packing and storage. Although cardboard is compostable, unpacking these boxes will often result in heaps of waste. Disposing these cardboard boxes can be a hassle and they may eventually land up in dumpsters.

Alternatives can always be found in recycling plastic boxes and duffle bags instead of cardboard boxes. For instance, plastic boxes can be recycled after unpacking by utilizing them as storage boxes. Duffle bags can serve as storage containers where non-fragile items such as books, clothes, shoes and other miscellaneous items can be stored during a move. From storage to moving, both plastic boxes and duffle bags could be a versatile alternative to cardboard boxes!

Idea #3. Recycle newspapers and magazines

Another packaging material that often adds to the cost of a move are bubble wraps. Bubble wraps have dominated themselves as traditional packaging material that provide safety and security of items during transportation. However, if you want to cut down on the post-move waste, you can choose newspapers and magazines. Both newspapers and magazines can be rolled up, balled up or shredded into pieces while warped, cushioning and packing items in boxes and duffle bags.

Green moving practices don’t require great skills. Simple mindfulness of the environment and conscious effort to look for eco-friendly solutions for packaging materials during a move can itself be commendable.

Top 5 Mistakes Not to Be Made on the Day of Your Move

Moving day can be daunting and many things can go wrong, but make sure you don’t make these 5 mistakes on your moving day!

moving1. Label the boxes

Boxes should be properly labeled while packing. It is very tempting to add labels and reorganize boxes during a last minute frenzy. When boxes are not labeled, it becomes very confusing when movers load and unload boxes during the move. When labeling boxes is done on the day of the move, there are high chances of items being misplaced and broken because they simply lacked labels with instructions. Therefore, labels should be added before the day of the move with instructions about the content and the location of where they should be placed after the move.

2. Unpack boxes

While rushing on the day of the move, one is bound to unpack boxes to either pull out items or shove more items in the box. Unpacking boxes which have been formerly organized only results in clutter. Remember movers need to take a visual inspection of the area before they start moving boxes. Unpacking boxes along with items that are packed creates unnecessary obstacles for movers. Be mindful of time and cost before you start unpacking boxes in last minute.

3. Disassemble furniture

Household items that require dissembling should be disassembled before the day of the move. Doing it yourself, on the day of the move may require expertise which may pose many challenges. Disassembling furniture on the day of the move may result in certain furniture pieces breaking or falling and causing damage around the room. Small screws and fasteners may get lost while disassembling in a hurry. Such incidents can add to your moving dilemma.

4. Create a moving inventory

A moving inventory checklist should be created prior to the day of the move itself. Creating a last minute moving inventory can not only be challenging, but also risky since many unguarded items will be left either in the room you’ve vacated or in the driveway area where movers have to load them in trucks. Creating a checklist right at the start would help in tracking belongings and make the move less stressful.

5. Reserve last minute parking

Don’t leave moving day logistic to last minute. As a customer, it is your responsibility to prepare best circumstance for loading and unloading for movers. Don’t leave this vital part of organizing parking for moving trucks to last minute. If you try to secure parking space for moving truck on the day of move, it will result in sheer waste of time and money. Some spaces may require you to seek permission through your landlord, neighbours, local police and authorities. Don’t forget that it is your role to secure parking for moving trucks and make arrangements ahead of time.

Moving with a professional movers like All The Right Removalist can be seamless if you avoid making the top 5 mistakes stated above. To enjoy the exemplary service of professional movers, try doing your part as well.

3 Homemade Alternatives to Supermarket Items

A weekly trip to the grocery store is on every homemaker’s to-do-list. Shelves inundated with varieties of items often lead shoppers to choice dilemmas. As if that wasn’t enough, shoppers often get consumed into half priced products that results in impulsive shopping. Cartloads of items are purchased routinely, most of the time in a hurry from a list every homemaker considers a top priority: the shopping list.

homemade

Nevertheless, what most shoppers don’t realise is that some items in the shopping cart could easily be replaced by homemade substitutes. Most of the commercial products we buy are not only costly, but they also have dubious ingredients contained behind the fancy packaging. Some of the ready made products like cleaners, beauty products, and food items can easily be prepared at home with just few basic ingredients.

Here are 3 homemade alternatives you should consider next time you’re in the supermarket:

1. Cleaners – Most of the household cleaners are highly toxic when inhaled or ingested. You can eliminate such health hazards with a few safe and simple ingredients such as soap, vinegar and baking soda. An all-purpose cleaner can easily be made with vinegar, baking soda, and essential oil. When these ingredients are mixed with some water in a spray glass, it can be used on any surface and wiped with cloth to remove stains and dust.

Homemade drain cleaner can also be made effortlessly by simply sprinkling ÂĽ of baking soda followed by pouring ÂĽ vinegar. The bubbling mixture can be left on the surface we want to clean for an hour. Boiling water can then be poured to rinse the clog. Household cleaning needs can be easily taken care of by using these simple ingredients with low impact on health and wellbeing. Recipes for homemade cleaners can be researched online and created to replace bathroom cleaners, scouring powders, dish washers, detergents and polishes.

2. Beauty products – Exclusive beauty products on the shelves of supermarkets entice women and men, promising to provide flawless skin. Most of the commercial beauty products and cosmetics have chemicals which may also have adverse side effects. Thankfully, some of these products have natural alternatives that are less expensive and safe to use. A closer look at your kitchen cabinet may provide most of the ingredients necessary to create handmade beauty essentials such lip balms, moisturizers, and face masks. Simple ingredients like coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, sugar, beewax, honey, citrus, and herbs can be easily used in most recipes.

Lip balm can be made by melting some beewax, shea butter, coconut oil in a small container. The melted liquid can be poured into an empty lip balm tube. A hint of essential oil can be added for flavor. After it has cooled, it can be applied as a lip balm. Facial scrubs can be made with natural products such as cucumber, sugar, olive oil, and fresh mint. All ingredients can be blended into a puree and it can be directly applied as a scrub. To add moisture and brightness to face, a simple face mask of mashed papaya and orange can give better results than any commercial face masks.

3. Baked Goods – When it comes to buying baked good, glossy, attractive images on the packaging of commercially sold baked goods are misleading. Most of the baked goods on the counter have added preservatives, chemical additives, and are often stale by the time they are purchased. Homemade bakery goods are healthy and require less ingredients to make as opposed to their commercial counterparts.

Budget and time can be stretched out by mindfully considering alternatives to supermarket bought items.
